High-Quality, Free Preschool
Free preschool has arrived in Coos and Curry Counties in the form of Preschool Promise!
Childcare providers in Coos Bay, North Bend, Myrtle Point, and Brookings have been awarded funds to provide high-quality publicly funded preschool through a partnership with the Early Learning Division.
Preschool Promise is open to children that meet income qualifications or are in foster care.

• Living or working in Coos, Curry, or Coastal Douglas County
• Income guidelines apply
Who is Eligible for Preschool Promise?
Children in Foster Care
Families with a Household Income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line (see chart below)
**There may be some flexibility to the eligibility requirements in geographically isolated communities**
The Coordinated Enrollment Process
Early Learning Hubs across the state are responsible for the Coordinated Enrollment process of the Preschool Promise programs in each region.
The South Coast Regional Early Learning Hub is working with childcare providers and families on the South Coast to enroll eligible children in the Preschool Programs within Coos, Curry, and Coastal Douglas Counties.
We are currently accepting Screening forms for families interested in enrolling their child in Preschool Promise for the 2020-21 school year. Enrollment is expected to begin no later than October 31st 2020
The Steps to Apply:
Submit a Screening Form:
Once you submit a Screening For for Free Preschool, you will be placed in an applicant pool for Preschool Promise Programs on the South Coast.
If there is an opening at a program, a SCREL Hub Staff person will contact you to ask additional questions to complete a full application and verify information.
Once your information is verified and you are eligibility is confirmed, we will connect you with the provider and they will enroll you in their program.
