South Coast Regional Early Learning Hub
Working together in our communities on the South Coast so families can be healthy and strong, and children can enter kindergarten ready to succeed.
The first six years of life are the most important in determining how children see themselves, how they approach learning, and what kind of success they will reach in school and beyond.
The more we invest in children, the greater the pay-off will be down the road, with stronger readers in third grade, more high school graduates, more college-ready students, and a skilled workforce.
The South Coast Regional Early Learning Hub (SCREL) promotes the alignment of programs and resources for children 0-6 and their families from Reedsport to Brookings.
The SCREL Hub was established in May 2015 as one of the 16 regional Early Learning Hubs of Oregon. The shared mission of these hubs is to support all of Oregon’s young children and families to learn and thrive.
Oregon Coast Community Action serves as the SCREL Hub's backbone agency.
We have full time staff dedicated to working to achieve the goals of the SCREL Hub. Our Office is located at Oregon Coast Community Action in Coos Bay, 1855 Thomas Ave. Coos Bay, OR 97420
Our Governance Council is called the Steering Committee. This diverse group includes representatives across multiple sectors including Early Care and Education, K-12, Health, Business, and Social and Human Services. The Steering Committee meets once a month and welcomes the public to join.

"Early Childhood programs pay dividends for life. We see savings as early as kindergarten, reduced burdens on the schools. We see savings in the teenage years. We see a direct link to higher adult productivity and self sufficiency"
- James Heckman, Nobel Laureate in Economics
Study after study shows that the earlier a child begins learning, the better he or she does down the road.
